About

Hi! I am Mike

Welcome to my adventure travel blog

I have spent a life travelling to many places around the world. Sometimes for business, sometimes for pleasure. These days I like to tour around my home country: Australia.

Who am I?

I don’t know. I am a father, a son, a husband and a loyal friend. I am a photographer, cyclist and journalist. I have an inquisitive mind and rarely settle. I am hard working and lazy at the same time. Like many people, I am many things.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How can I afford to travel so often?

I keep my costs very low, travelling with friends and family, often camping, sometimes staying with others. When I stay in a motel, it’s usually the cheapest one in town. Clean sheets and a comfy mattress is really all I require.

2. How did you start/learn about photography?

I have owned cameras since I was a teenager (a long time ago!). Most of my photographic style has been developed over time. I stand on the shoulders of those who came before me; observing their styles, picking the bits I like, and making it my own.

At college in London, I studied photographic sciences and then spent many years in the photographic industry in Australia.

3. Have you ever been in danger?

On the whole, I believe people are mostly good. They want to share their country and their stories with others. You just have to ask. I not ambivalent to danger and I take care where I camp, but so far, I have not had an issue.

4. What camera gear do you use?

I am often on a bike, so my gear needs to be compact and reliable, which are generally two mutually opposed things! I like to keep things simple and generally stick to an iPhone, a GoPro and a Mavic Mini drone.

A year from now you will wish that you started today.
